This tour takes you through Ireland’s diverse history and culture from its vibrant capital, Dublin, before heading back in time to explore some important moments in Ireland’s history at sites such as Trim Castle and the ancient Newgrange. Visits to more modern Irish pastimes are also included with trips to Newbridge Silverware and the unique Irish National Stud. With such varied attractions Ireland’s Ancient East is sure to have something for everyone!

Suggested itinerary by coach
Day 1
Depart the UK.
Travel to Dublin by coach and ferry. Arrive in Co. Meath and check into Trim Castle Hotel where you will stay for the next four nights.
Day 2
Morning Sightseeing in Dublin and afternoon free.
After breakfast enjoy a guided tour of Dublin city sights – see Christchurch and St. Patricks Cathedrals, Trinity College, the oldest university in Ireland, Temple Bar, the iconic Ha’penny Bridge and the fascinating Dublin Castle. The afternoon is free to explore and enjoy this interesting city.
Day 3
Trim Castle and Newgrange.
Today make the short walk across the road for your tour of Trim Castle. This dramatic castle is the largest Anglo-Norman castle in Ireland and it is clear to see why its imposing walls were used in the filming of ‘Braveheart’. Afterwards you have the chance to go even further back in time with a visit to the Neolithic site of Newgrange, a magnificent UNESCO World Heritage ancient burial site, dated 3,200BC – older than the Egyptian pyramids!
Day 4
Irish National Stud and Newbridge Silverware.
Today head out to the unique Irish National Stud and Japanese Gardens. From horses to horticulture, the Irish National Stud offers you a unique experience including visiting some of Irelands most famous race horses. Visiting the beautiful world renowned Japanese Gardens, created in 1906, is a must for all gardeners and non gardeners alike! Afterwards visit the Newbridge Silverware Visitor Centre. Open for over 80 years the company has earned a reputation for fine silverware design and craftsmanship. The centre is a contemporary shopper’s paradise! Also onsite is the Museum of Style Icons which hosts numerous collections and artefacts relating to Stars of the Silver Screen and many modern day artists – including Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Princess Grace, Princess Diana, Michael Jackson, Michael Flatley, the Beatles and many more.
Day 5
Return to the UK.
After breakfast start your journey home by coach and ferry.

Overlooking the magnificent Trim Castle, this four star hotel is only 40 minutes away from Dublin and offers a comfortable base to explore Ireland’s East. The hotel has 2 restaurants, a café and a bar. All 68 well appointed bedrooms come equipped with tea/coffee facilities, a flat screen television and a telephone. Lift to all floors. There is free of charge coach parking available across the road from the hotel. Coaches are able to pull up in front of the hotel for passengers to disembark.
