Day 1
Travel to hotel.
Arrive at your hotel and relax before dinner.
Day 2
Isle of Bute & Mount Stuart.
After breakfast, take the scenic drive around the central belt as you marvel at the scenery of Loch Lomond and the Loch Fyne banks. Board the Cal Mac crossing at Colintraive where you sail over to the Isle of Bute to visit Mount Stuart House. Known to be one of the worlds great houses, Mount Stuart boasts to be one of Scotland’s most spectacular Victorian Gothic Mansions. It is widely believed to be the first house in the world to have a heated indoor swimming pool and electric light! Explore the house and gardens before boarding the return crossing at Rothesay as you return back to Wemyss Bay. You will also enjoy tea and cake on-board during your return crossing.
Day 3
Free time in Glasgow.
Today travel the short distance to Glasgow, Scotland’s largest City. The shopping capital of Scotland, the whole day could be spent browsing the various shopping centres within the City. Glasgow has a wide variety of culture available including the Glasgow Cathedral and The Riverside Museum which is a fascinating showcase of transport. Art lovers will be right at home in the City with the Kelvingrove Museum, Burrell Collection and House for an Art Lover. Access to all of Glasgow’s museums mentioned above are free!
Day 4
Optional excursion to the Isle of Arran.
After breakfast, take the ferry to the Isle of Arran. Brodick Castle, its gardens and country park stretch from the shore to the highest peak on Arran. The gardens are well worth a visit at any time of the year, especially in spring when the collection of famous rhododendrons burst into full bloom. In the afternoon, there is an optional visit to the Arran Distillery at Lochranza for a ‘wee dram’ before returning to Brodick for the return crossing to Ardrossan.
Day 5
Return home.
After breakfast start your journey home.
